discolouration around T Band

My rounded vee bottom board is getting brown disclouration both sides of my T band [centre is blue foam ]. It goes all the way down and both sides . Never had it on my other boards . Board is only 8 months old . Ironically its my favourite . Wondering what causes it?

Without seeing it? EPS, or PU? Did you make it, if so What kind of glue used in the stringer/blank build.

But I'll go out here on a limb and say.....WATER!  you have a leaking spot around the stringer...humm, maybe you didn't plane the stringer flat on the finish shape, then you glassed it, then when you sanded it you almost but not quite burned through to glass top.  You have just enough glass to look like it's glasses, but not enough to keep it water proof.

That's where I'd start first.

If not that, you got something funky in the stringer thats seeping out? There was a knot in the wood and sap is ooozing into the foam?....but thats a long shot.

WATER you got WATER in there. Plus if the stringer gets wet, the wood will act like it should...like a tree. The water will continue to travel the length of the board, just like a tree....Amazing!

If the blank is poly, and if the blank were glued up with resin, then the discoloration that you described is probably due to too much catalyst in the glue-up resin.     By definition MEKP is a powerful oxydizer, the excess will cause the ''burning'' of the foam next to the glue line.

Thanks for the replies guys . It is a poly and was shaped by very good shaper. If there was too much catalyst would it have any structural limitations.Resin i will check to see if there are any areas where water is getting in at the stringer

The excess catalyst might make the glue-up resin  more brittle, but not enough to compromise the structural integrity of the board.
