Yeah Im not 100% sure on that either but I had a couple of thoughts…
it looks like he seals the bottom section with an internal cup thus creating a chamber that could be used for
-
adding ballast
-
attaching handles without compromising the camera chamber
-
car keys?
not quite sure… if ballast was used then the camera would be self righting which would be kinda cool when diving… it might also stabalise the picture somewhat…
