Hey Dale, Is George Greenough’s video “Dolphin Glide” available yet? It looks like a must for anyone who wants to see the best surfers ever. George is truely one of the most influential and progressive genius. Nature’s the ultimate model! Good Surfin’, Rich
Hey Dale,>>> Is George Greenough’s video “Dolphin Glide” available yet? It > looks like a must for anyone who wants to see the best surfers ever. > George is truely one of the most influential and progressive genius.>>> Nature’s the ultimate model!>>> Good Surfin’, Rich I’m not sure it’s available yet, Halcyon… at least in video format anyways! I infrequently check George’s website for any future development on Dolphin Glide, but I’m sure he’ll release it when the time is right! And hopefully George will have the good sense to release it in NTSC (U.S.) format as well as PAL (Australian) Better yet, DVD!!! I do know you can get copies of Crystal Voyager through Three S Films (Cornwall, England) and you can get Innermost Limits of Pure Fun Just about anywhere… And if your a diehard Greenough fan you can get a copy of Greg Huglin’s Fantasea through … I think it’s the Australian Surf film network, and I believe it’s only distributed in Australia, therefore the dreaded PAL format! No biggie though… I had my copy converted here in the states (NTSC) for a small fee at a video store. It’s a little grainy, but the sequence of George and good friend Paul Gross surfing their Air Mats at an unmentioned perfect right hand point break somewhere in Australia is worth the price of the video by itself!!!
Halcyon, At present, it looks like there are going to be three parts to Georges latest film efforts... "Dolphin Glide", "The Making Of Dolphin Glide" and a 10 minute short for stand up theaters, which might end up being called "The Dolphin Glide Experience". In short, there will be a longer 35MM film, also in DVD with layered music tracks, a limited run of large format, coffee table style books, etc. "The Making Of Dolphin Glide" is finished and is in the UK awaiting distribution; "Dolphin Glide" is almost completed, with the music tracks in progress. The last short has yet to be finalized. Nothing exists like his assembled footage, which is likely to impact the non-surfing world more than ourselves! In a different way, the behind the scenes story is easily as involved and fascinating as the subject matter of the films themselves... more than ever, and after 8 years of work, George is totally pumped about this project. I sincerely wish we could all be so robustly alive, sensitive, and creatively focused at 60 years of age. After George
s “Dolphin Glide” films come out, many will be challenged to understand and experience the act of wave riding from a completely new perspective. Dale
Dale, Can we look forward to seeing surfmat footage in all three parts of George’s film?
Dale,>>> Can we look forward to seeing surfmat footage in all three parts of > George’s film? ajl, George said there isn
t any surfmat footage in "Dolphin Glide", some in "The Making Of Dolphin Glide" and perhaps a bit in a 10 minute stand up, if and when that occurs. It
s also possible that there will also be a made-for-television “Dolphin Glide” documentary, which George said would probably contain some good mat surfing footage. Dale
