Donald Bennett surfboards

Does anyone out there in surf world know what happened to Donald R. Bennett? He made boards on the outer banks in the 70’s,when I was a kid.His son,Don Jr. and me used to hang out.I’ve got a couple of Don Bennett single fins in my 70’s board collection, one has a big lightning bolt on the deck done w/pigment gloss. I heard once he was doing boat trips in Indo;does he still make boards?I think I remember hearing that Don Jr. was in Wilmington NC,maybe. If Don Jr. sees this, give a shout out, it’s Rascoe in Nags Head.

So, one day on the weekend of July forth, 1975, tropical storm Amy was just offshore Cape Hatteras and sending the biggest and best swell I ever saw on the East Coast. The first jetty was (no kiddin’) 10 - 12’ Hawaiian style and looked exactly like a big day at Pipeline. Only about 10 people were surfing with hundreds on the beach watching that day. Don and his girlfriend were two of the ones in the lineup. It was EPIC! I don’t know where he is today but I think after that he was in Hawaii for a time.
