Dung Repair Question

I have a question for all you long time ding repairers. Is it worth the fill coat after filling, patching and feathering or do you just finish spray? Sanding to 220 gets it reasonably smooth anyway and finish spraying can hide the rest. Is it just lazy to skip a layer of sanding resin and sanding before finish spraying?

I think the best thing for dung repair is a better diet…

as for the other question, if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.

Ha ha…eat more veggies!

Sometimes you just gotta strain a bit harder and push on through.

Do it right, it feels better.

Yes I always do a fill coat to 120 then finish spray if needed. The only exception to this is expoxy composites that get painted anyway, then use and extra layer of glass to sand through folloed by a marien fairing compound or car body filler.

Make sure you remove all the peanuts and corn first.

Howzit deanbo, The reason to do some kind of finish coat is to seal the weave that is exposed after sanding the ding repair. This will keep any wicking of the glass and prevent any yellowing. I have done both resin and spray finish coats, resin can be a little tricky since it is thicker so the original prep needs to be right on.Aloha,Kokua

This has to be my all-time favorite thread title.

There must be something in the water in NZ. And I mean besides the waves.

Mooneemick But always remember, don’t strain too hard, you may blow out your O-ring! =)
