Hi guys,
At our shop were tired of the dust that the sanding room generates. We have decided to buy a dust collector to put an end to that issue. The sanding is 16’4 long x 9’10 width x 7’2 high. I was thinking in buying something like this:

what do you guys think? Any of you have had a dust collector system like this one? Any thoughts?
Check on Harbor Frieght if you want to buy cheap Chinese tools. This one looks similar to what you posted for $100 less. http://www.harborfreight.com/2-hp-industrial-5-micron-dust-collector-97869.html
They have a extended warranty for three years for 10% more I believe. HD gives 90 days.
Both units will eventually wear down, so go with one you can modify and fix when needed like making your own bags or filter, whatever.
If you are really concerned with dust you can pair this type machine with a particulate collector to get 99% of the dust in your shop.
Otherwise, cheapest option is an extractor fan piped outside and a shop vac attached to sander.
But the best line of defense is a good respirator like the full face North mask like Hizenberg.
