dust filter?

Anybody have a slick ideal to keep the sanding rooms cleaner. what type of quick easy dust collectors are there. We tried mounting a fan on a 55 gallon drum 1/2 filled with water to catch the stuff but reall no dice.

an article I read in Surfer’s Path magazine mentioned using “waterfalls” in sanding rooms. w/out having seen one I can picture how something like that would catch a lot of dust, and probably be not that hard to build – a perforated pipe, some hose, a good-sized pump/filter system (possibly the diatomaceous earth kind used for big aquariums) a basin or tub at the bottom to catch the water, and some ingenuity… maybe someone here has already got one and could give you details…

Herb give me a few more details about your setup. You say a large fan in front and behind the racks. Do they blow towards the mist setup or away. Do they blow across the board or underneath. Do you keep these going all the time. Anymore info would be great. http://members.cox.net/austinsurfboards/

Towards the door, and below the board most of the time.Sending the dust directly into the mist. This pulls the dust down and out. The mist catches the dust and sends it down to the ground outside of the shop.Later after it dries,I just sweep, and rinse down the dusty areas.Herb
