I am wondering if there is a significant difference between the ease of lamination between 4 and 6 oz cloth. I Just finished laming my first board. To me the 6 oz seemed difficult to fold around the nose/tail area and even on the sharp area of rail toward the rear of the board.
Appologies if this has been addressed, tried a search, no luck…
Thanks
I actually find 6 oz easier than 4oz when laminating the nose and tail as the lager spaces in the weave mean you can squeeze the fibres together around the curve so you don’t need to worry about relief cuts, just one as the nose tip and 1 or 2 at the tails.
the glass doesn’t like folding over a shape edge the trick to getting a hard tail is to give it a couple of passes with sand paper, so you get a tight lam, then when you come to do the hot coat make a tape dam to put the edge back on.
