I’ve always loved the look of nice eggs; and I just finished gluing up 3, 8ft blanks.
It appears that most of the eggs I see are close to equal in the nose and tail dimensions (most are about 1/4" narrower in the tail) …?
I don’t know where the widest point is ( midpoint, 1" forward or back)?
I also have not worked out the numerical relations between the nose/tail and full width dimensions. Is there any sort of “rule of thumb” or ratio I can go by?
I am planning a 7’5" by 20 egg for my wife, and a 8’ by 22 egg for me, any suggestions on the dimensions are appreciated…
Check out "the egg thread", you'll find lots of pics and info. If it looks "eggy", then the dimensions are right!. Most eggs would have the widepoint forward of centre, from a lot, to a little.
...Whatever......I built an egg...it works...I love it...Magic happens......not a perfect Pro board.....Magic Board for me...not for you.
8 x 21 3/4 x 3 . home made blank. the 7-9 Eaton looks soo good in the 2005 Clark catalog..........I added a little tail rocker...made the blank 8 foot...........I like eggs. and round rails. Not for RAD waves.
Agreed. Almost nothing egg-like about it. Looks like a standard mini mal. I also agree that true eggs are bascially double-enders. Nose and tail width should be close in size.
call it whatever you want. an egg...a fish...ha ha.....a mini fun board,,,a board that's fun.....a crappy board built for crappy waves...yeah...that's it....
have fun,
build an egg or 2 ender or something.........I like egg shaped boards....
I don't really know if there's a consensus. A semi-pig or pig design would have the WP aft of center. Greg Liddle's site really has a lot of info if you dig a bit. Under the 'Dimensions' section he lists his WP at 4"-8" ahead of center depending on the model.
