Been postcuring my boards in one of our telecoping blank boxes for a while now. Works great and collapses to get out of the way.

Did some experiments with EPS blocks on top for insulation but found they are not needed. The box itself keeps most of the heat in.
I stuck a thermometer inside the box and there’s little variation between insulated and no isulation.

Got this sucker up to 165 degrees F and the epoxy did soften but hardened up again after cooling (as epoxy will do)
I try to keep the box temp between 110 and 120. for 2 or 3 hours Just adjust the heater/blower to the right output level.

Here’s a pic of a board inside the box. No need for the EPS scrap insulation under. I opened the end to see inside but I usually keep the end loosely closed for airflow.

Can’t beat the price eh!
I’ll add that propping the board up on two small blocks lets the heat circulate underneath.
I believe the only excuse for not postcuring is if you live in Hawaii!
Damn I wish I had that excuse!

Any small space heater with a fan will work though.

Nice one!

Yo Rick,
I had the boxes custom made for shipping blanks and boards. If you’re down in the area sometime stop by and I’ll give you one.

Yeah Greg,
I figure homebuilders can take advantage of epoxy’s FULL strength by postcuring with a rig like this.
Why not?

Oh yeah, Greg, I forgot to ask what the optimal postcure temperature and time is for Resin Research? I’ve been getting rock hard results at 110-120 for 2-3 hours…
Thanks.

has anyone tried heatlamps for the heat?
Hi Brian,
That first shot reveals a possibility so close to my last Eureka moment on the space saving issue.
No, I’m not telling…its right in front of you!
