Aloha , I have made anew board by cutting of the back of an old one and reshaping it . It is a polyester board . Now I am ready to install the fin box and wonder if I could use Epoxy to do this and would it be stronger as I am thinking… Or Not??? Thanks …

Under the circumstances why not just keep it all Polyester. No worries about any issues of the learning curve when using an unfamiliar product (epoxy) at the final stages of your project. Yes, there are definite benefits in using Epoxy. Next time give it a try from the lamination all the way through the entire board building process, you be the judge. :o}

Thanks , For the reply . I am wanting to try Epoxy on my next board but this one I just cut the tail off and reshaped it . Turned a Big long pintail int a Fish . It is still 6’8" so I’m gonna Put in a center box as well as the “Keel” fins . Your right Poly will be easier to use as I allready am used to it . The thing I was wondering was if it was OK to “mix” the two . Use Epoxy For the fins when the rest of the board is poly. I was thinking that it might be a good idea to try it on a small job like this to sorta get used to it … Aloha, Thanks … Don J.
