hey, i have a epoxy gloss coat if you want to call it that, and would like to keep the glossy finish but small particles have landed in the dried coat, there were no fish eyes or air bubbles, so im wondering if some kind of a polish would just buff out there impurites, what product would you reccomend? I would just be using a 7" disk sander with a buff pad. Id like to stay away from sanding it to 1200? grit if possible. I have never needed to buff or polish any of my previoius boards so any help is appreciated. Thanks Dave
so, basically…you want the nice glossy finish, but you don’t want to do the work to get it
if you don’t want a bumpy, contaminated surface…sand it and polish it out.
Sand it all out and spray with a gloss acrylic or 2 pac…
Only a sand and polish will save you. Use a nib file or razor blade and lightly slice the top of the bump off, wetsand with 800 grit, 1200, 1500, 2000 , rubbing compound and polishing compound. Unfortunately no easy way around it.
You think thats bad, first epoxy gloss coat I did, I took someone elses advise about applying it with a mohair roller.
two words that dont go together, gloss coat and hair.
But I did the same as Stevil sugested and it came out loverly in the end. I’ll stick to using a 4" bruch from now on.
