That’s funny…some would say southern Spain is the 3rd world, they turn all street lights off at night because the town council ran off with the money and all sewage is just flushed straight out into the sea…and the only reason I can get away with making surf boards in my school with the kids is the lack of “health and safety”! I use the department store cupboard for all the blanks and some staff are starting to moan about the faint tint of resin in the corridors!!
If I buy a router, what kind of router bit do I need? Do you have to make a wooden jig for the outline?
If you have a chisel and a steel rule and a craft knife just use that its not that hard and you will be done before you drive to the shop to get a router and back.
On the other hand routers are very handy things makeing a guide is highly recomended they tend to jump when you hit the stringer. You will need a straight cut bit with blades all the way to the bottom smaller is easyer.
Sorry guys another stupid question. When installing the fin box should you line the cut out with a couple of strips of cloth that overlaps onto the board? If so, how do you cover this up? Would you normally do the fin box installation before a gloss coat??
Can the box be installed with just a mix of resin and the powdery glass bubbles - not sure what they are called? Would this be too weak or would this cause a problem with water seping into theboard?
