EPOXY HOT COAT LOOKING LIKE A GOLF BALL

Hello to all

I am a new at shaping and glassing and have a lot to thank the swaylock community for the postings. (great help)

I am using the greg Loehr epoxy, it has proven to be easy to work with. I used water base paint to spray the board after lamination and sanded after drying. When I applied the hot coat it looked good and i walked away to find the entire surface looking like a golf ball, full of dimples. The only thing that I can think of is that I should not have sprayed the board prior to hot coating, maybe some kind of reaction. If anyone can give me a hint as to what I have done, which has created a lot of sanding for me it will be appreciated.

Thank you all in advance

Louie

I don’t know what kind of paint you used, but it might contain silicones or other repellants. The other point of this is, paint under hotcot is asking for trouble, the slightest sandthrough and its gone. Keep the lamination clean and free, hotcoat and then color on the sanded finish, spray over with clear coat

As Jim said the paint may contain something that the epoxy won’t stick to. Or, did you use any solvent to clean the board prior to airbrushing?
