epoxy hotcoat - after tacky

Hi gents (and ladies),

If the lam has gelled for more than a few hours and is no longer tacky - is it too late?

I’m guessing that it has passed the point of possible hotcoat without having to sand and DNA wipe. Or can I get away with it without sanding etc if it has only been a few hours?

Thanks

You should be good to go.

Most people say that within 24 hours is good. I have always given it a hit with some sand paper and DNA if I leave it over night to be sure.

Yep… hit it with 80 grit all over, then a DNA wipe with a clean cloth. By clean, I mean a new rag, right out of the laundry. People contaminate the rag by wiping one board, then reuse that same rag, putting that contamination right onto another board, and wonder why they get fisheyes.

I swear by those boxes of cloths that look and feel like really super thick paper towels. They come in big tissue box type boxes with perforated edges. Use them once then throw them away. You can get them at Lowe’s or Home Depot.
