Epoxy on poly foam?

Hey just have a quick question, will epoxy resin effect polyurethane foam in any way? ive an epoxy board to fix but dont have any EPS foam so i was wondering if i could use poly foam glassed with Epoxy.

thanks!

Epoxy on urethane or eps is muy bien!

Epoxy on poly OK.

I always use polyfoam scraps for repairs.  Use Gorilla glue (not epoxy) and you won’t have any melted eps.

If it is the same stuff as the clear coat Greg, I’d say yes and to avoid based upon experience.  Your RR 1980

formulation works quite well with the newer, harder PU blanks we’ve been using.  Pretty F-in good combo in

fact…  Thanks

depends

CMP/BB10 uses epoxy over clark blanks for the past 10+ years making semi indestructible but a little heavier boards.

I did a US blanks modfish that Griffin shaped for me in ResinX and S cloth and it ended up soft to the point of being mushy with pressures.

so it depends I guess

You need a high modulus resin as Oneula stated, his was too low.  I prefer Kwik Kick but others work.  Isn’t Resin X urethane?

did anybody experience shrinking foam ? i had very mixed results …all done with kk. no problems with eps though.

Where on the modulus scale is the FGH epoxy? They, unfortunately, say nothing about that in their product description… the only epoxy available on Maui.

Only on that crappy “biofoam” type stuff… Ice9

FGH works great on Poly blanks.  It is all I use.

If you want bomb proof, FGH epoxy over stringerless PU blanks with a Core-cell deck only skin.  Cerex under the core-cell. Nylon and Fiberglass over the core-cell.  A little carbon only where you want stiffness.  But all that is for a different thread.

1/8" balsa over poly foam with normal epoxy glassing over that creates a bomb proof board. It’s a little heavier than most boards, but you won’t get pressure dings. I have one that has been bashed by my body, head, knees, and there’s no pressures.

That would make sense George.  Little stiffer resin to match the foam.  Pretty dent proof.
