Epoxy - Prep for Hotcoat?

After sanding laps and getting ready for the hotcoat. Was it blow it off with air, then rub it down using rubbing alcohol or was it bathing it with simple soap and water?? How long after lam coat dry should I hotcoat? Will waiting overnight do any harm??

Thanks

I just clean it with plain water and haven’t had any problems with hotcoats not sticking. The best epoxy-epoxy bonding is after cured hard but within 24 hours, so I usually lam the bottom, next day lam the deck, next day hotcoat the deck, then the next day sand the bottom a little with 80 grit to rough it up and then hotcoat the bottom.

If NOT using additive F in the lamination then a wash with soap and water or denatured alcohol and a scotchbrite pad is in order. Additive F makes bond between layers better so washing is less important. Sanding with some light paper like Benny suggested makes everything come out smoother. 80 is a bit more aggressive than I use… I prefer 100-120.

I do the same as Benny, just make sure the board is dry as a bone and really really clean otherwise the white powder residue will end up in your hot coat and turn everything milky. I found this out the hard way on my first board.
