Epoxy Resin Not hardening

Hi,  I mixed up a very small batch of Entropy resin about 1 1/2 tablespoon to fix up some burn throughs and other gliches on board I am building.  I must have made a mistake in my measuements ,because it isn’t hardening after 3 days. It is only slightly hardened . All other batches worked great.  Any sugestions?  I have it out the car the try set it off with some heat but it doesn’t seem to help.  Should I just wait or should I try clean it off?  What is a good way to clean it off?  Or maybe should I put some hardener on it?

Thanks for any advice

Start cleaning.  In the future for small batches go to a pharmacy and get 2 measuring syringes.  Mark one for resin and one for hardener so you don’t mix them up.  Now you will be able to get precise measurements.  Avoid real small batches…nothing less than a half a syringe.

I mix small batches all the time, for ding repair. Larger batches I always go by weight, but small batches I just do visually - never had a problem (resin research epoxy).

Arrrgggggg!  Stop with the syringes!!!   Those things get expensive!!!     = P

Get a digital postal scale, and some dixie cups.  Popsicle sticks, with the round end cut off, so you can scrape the bottom with the square end.

10 grams of epoxy, 4 grams of hardener.Mix really well.  Never use the scraped the epoxy that is stuck to the side of the cup, because that stuff doesn’t mix well. Only use what pours out.

Never fails

What would be the best thing to use to clean the uncured epoxy.

I would Scrape, sand and wipe with denatured alcohol

white vinegar.

wv will take it off your hands if/when you spill some.

it will clean it off the floor, your squeegee, your scissors, etc etc.

AND, it’s super CHEAP

Graduated medicine cups for small batches 3 cents a cup. you can usually get several uses out of a cup if you are a cheapo. Way cheaper than syringes.

I used denatured alcohol and it came right off.   I re-resined it and it worked just fine.

I’ve had syringes that I’ve re-used for several years and there is never a doubt if you got your measurements right.

Can’t miss mixing epoxy with a Digital Scale

I vote digital scale and Greenlight’s is a really good one.

The OP was talking about batches as small as a tablespoon and a half.  I’ll stand by syringes being the way to go for such small batches.  We’ll have to agree to disagree.

Hard to get any more accurate than this on tiny amounts.

Get ones like above that do not have black rubber on the plunger.  These you can re-use indefinately.  Ones like pictured below with the black rubber on the plunger don’t hold up.
