I’m tossing up wether to go for a urethane gloss spray finish (MDI based) or a epoxy spray gloss finish as I believe that exists as well. Plusoneshaper I believe you have had some experience with epoxy spray gloss finish. Any problems and did you need to set up with the same special equipment that is normally required with urethane?
never done it myself but I’ve seen a real nice work that
was done with a two component car lac.
Hey Deanbo,
The epoxy glossed finishes are still holding up well. My concern was UV resistance but
it has been many months and they look good.
The latest thing being tried is spraying on a clear polyester gloss resin that is UV-activated.
The hardest part was finding a reducer that did not inhibit the cure. The workability on
rubout is easier and polishing yields a higher luster. (the raw sprayed finish is actually
good as is though) (note: these spray on finishes are much thinner than a traditional
brush on finish and both sides are sprayed at once since the board is suspended by the tail)
Hope this helps,
George
Thanks George.
