epoxy?

Ive started fixing my boards (polyester) with west systems epoxy, and I like how it doesn’t smell nearly as bad

and I don’t feel like Ive been huffing paint fumes after Im done. But, its pretty expensive stuff. Anyone use other kinds of epoxy for their ding repair?

I’ve found that you can mix up just 30mls for major ding repairs using 5:1 mix with very little wastage.

It becomes economical when you can mix at 5:1. Hell, you could mix 5ml and 1ml hardener if you only need a tiny bit to fill a void.

And it takes ages to set so you can really take your time.

cheers

Afetr having used west systems for many years I’ve just started using ResinResearch (321-223-5276) and like it.

I’ve also used jeffco, which I can get at crystaliner, which is pretty cheap. I would use it for small repairs but nothing structural. Call 858-576-9900 for the Jeffco distributor in San Diego. But I would do a cost comparisson with Resin Research and go with the RR if it’s pretty close. I bought a gallon of resin the fast and slow hardener and the additive “f” all for about $100.00 from RR (I think that might have included shipping as well, but I can’t remember).

yeah i got my resin research from fiberglass florida and got a pretty sweet deal. i got the 1 1/2 gallon kit for 85 bucks. but the best deal was the glass i got bgf aerialite for 2.34 a yard. so i got resin, 42 yards of glass, pint of additive f, and a gallon of aerosil and some buckets for just over 200 bucks.
