CA, HI, FL, NJ, NC, OR, WA and TX all now have blank manufacturers. Like Chip said, only a month after Blank Monday.

Hey Jason

who are these guys?

I never heard of them are they legit or fly by night?

CMP said the Pacific Allied was thinking about it getting it the business but looks like they backed out casue they can’t keep up with the meeting their orders from the housing market here.

The 2 they had was “expeimental” and they didn’t have 3 lb yet.

These guys are legit. Its the old Blue Hawaii factory on Paakea Rd. Family run by a young couple, husband does the glassing and wife does the airbrushing. Uncle Bruce hooked me up with these guys as well as Kimo Hollinger. Uncle Bruce and Duane and Makamae Desoto get their boards glassed there. Their making the switch to epoxy because they already have experience with epoxy and EPS foam since they are both from Florida. The Clark shutdown hurt their buisness and epoxy EPS is the only hope right now to stay in buisness. So hopefully my post here helps them out.

Thanks for all the posts guys…we’re doing great and our quality says it all. With 16years in the epoxy resin…thanks to Rainbow Surfboards and Doug Wright in Indian Harbour…we’ve been able to stay alive and actually compete in the hardknock surf industry for a bit longer after the Clark closure. Thanks Grubby!!!

Our blanks are from Pacific Allied and the weights can vary from 1lb to 3lbs…remember though that the strength of and epoxy board dosn’t come from the foam…it comes from the glass and epoxy. We also prefer to use Aluzine 2:1 epoxy…its much easier to work with and comes out MUCH whiter than the other products on the market. We’ve used them all and stick with only the best matierals. We have found that PVC stringers are the best, but we use wood upon customer request. Cloth varies from Kevlar to Carbon to plain old 4-10oz and have found no problems or difficulties with glassing. No soft spots here!!!

As for colorwork with the Aluzine Resin…its wonderful…no crystalization with reds or blacks and pigments are just as easy…just remember that you MUST USE SPACKLE if you want to keep problems at bay!!!

Good luck to all the epoxy newcomers and remember the basic chemistry and rules for epoxy resins…no shortcuts!!!
