heard that poly hotcoat adheres well to epoxy 2:1 lam? Actually, looking to get a nice high gloss as the finiahed product. Any ideas?
Poly gloss over RR epoxy/EPS. Board is in great condition a year later.
so it went on over the epoxy hotcoat and not a poly hotcoat? Sanded to #100 or #120 first?
Make sure that you use either RR, Fiberglass Hawaii or Surfsource epoxy. I have done it both ways … poly gloss over epoxy sanding coat and hotcoated and glossed with poly over epoxy. They’re all still good. Just make sure there’s no pinholes in the epoxy. Just sand the hotcoat like you normally do.
I just did a “gloss” with some “Surfboard Sealer” from Fiberglass supply(its milky and i think its just acrylic). It just wipes on. Then I used their “surfboard polish”, which is like a liquid car wax. Wax on , wax off. Used a buffer for a few minutes. Looks as good as my poly gloss coats, and is super quick.
