EPS vs Poly Blanks - Which is better?

Couldn’t agree more…I like 'em all .

Killing the unborn is never a good idea as a means to control population in your own country.  The most sanctified place on the planet should be the womb.  Man’s insensitivity to his fellow man is immoral.   Certainly tension exists between our responsibilities to ourself, and our responsibility to mankind, as well as, stewardship of our planet’s resources individually and collectively.   Since you seem so haughty, and sef assured, what solutions do you have to offer?  Furthermore, smoking sucks, I hate it, but our US Capitol is adorned with tobacco flowers, as it was the cash crop for many of the founding fathers- chew on that.  I don’t own an assault rifle, and abhor war.  So your argument is specious at best and certainly doesn’t apply to me; I would suggest; ignorance at its worst.

Don’t start the political stuff, it’s nearly as bad as the jebus stuff

What is valueless to some is important to others.

Sometimes I go off, so please excuse my dissonant ramblings that serve to promote critical thinking.  Just like my friend Stingray, I enjoy poly, epoxy, wood, and whatever else i can think of or is close at hand to make boards out of; I do it out of boarddumb.

This.

Ifinite wisdom aside.........

Wood has it's place and wood workers will always build wood surfboards.....

As a back yard builder I don't ask which type of blank is better......I ask what suits my needs? The truck load of $20 EPS blanks built quite a few killer surfboards for me and my friends. That was a Swaylock's deal. The sort of heavy poly blanks from the guy going out of business made one dog longboard and my current favorite surfboard. I'm OK with a little bit heavy.....poly tends to crush on the deck, EPS tends to sucks water when dinged. Learn to work with the materials. Go surfing when you can. Don't take surfing advice from people that don't surf. Sun block is good. Stingray

Maybe the best advice ever posted here!

always a voice of reason ray!.

Sun Block is VERY good!

Twitter / kellyslater: Good info on sunscreens. I …

This guy begs to differ.  And he surfs.

It is fortunate that Swaylock’s members (and visitors) have Skinray to decipher for them what is important and useful, and what is not.

Poly, EPS, Wood and whatever you can get your hands on.

It all has its place.

Variety is the spice of life.

80% Poly

10% EPS

!0% wood.

"Since you seem so haughty, and self assured, what solutions do you have to offer? "

Innocent of being haughty, probably guilty of being self-assured.   Result of having formed opinions after years spent working and traveling through many countries, spending time to understand the culture and respective social challenges, and then returning with a more objective view of home.

Solutions?  Very few in this country these days.  It’s become far too polarized a landscape, dominated by the uninformed and self-righteous who turn red in the face and call names at anyone who see’s things differently then they do.

EPS hands down the winner!!!

I don't think you really understand anything.  Just finished 6 eps sup's tonight, slam bam, thank you mam!  Shaped a 9'6'' poly this morning.  Milled out some reclaimed redwood today inbetween so dark in color you would think it was ebony.  I reckon that should count for something, but it doesn't.

Don't want to get in a dick-slinging contest with you, but you haven't said anything substantial, other than you think your substantial.  Perhaps the man on the other end of the computer wants to suck you with a vacuum to pieces right out of the privacy of your home because your unwanted; I reckon then there would be no womb at the inn for you.

Now Thats Damn Funny Shit!

First, excuse me for posting substantiating points chronologically in this post.  I know it is offensive to some

I quote your buddy ghettorat from your

How To Install A Longboard Center Fin Box

thread.  He called you **Thin "Skin Ray."**  I know it is a huge reach, but I deleted the word **"Thin."**

You blocked my PMs? WOW! LMAO.

I sent you a picture of Silver Surfer with a single statement – “My latest build” – the same picture that was the sole content of my For Skinray et. al. thread (I did not want you to feel you were denied access to my deleted “Trainwreck” thread.)

You replied with a semi-wordy response.

To which, I replied with an innocuous response that contained these statements, “Pissing on one another at Sways for fun? What a hoot!”

To which, you commented I am “too uptight.”

I responded, “Uptight?  Maybe … LMAO.”  Nada mas.

Vile prose for sure.  LOL

Just want to get the story straight Ray.  Defensive?  LMAO

Gotta love Sways!

I do not claim to be better than anybody.  I have built surfboards.  I surfed regularly.  I have never taken pictures of surfboards I made.  I am not a pro builder.  Like most here, I have opionions.  All true ...

Do all of the old pro builders at Sways still surf regularly?  I think I know at least one who does not surf/ride anymore and at least one other who has not posted any pictures of boards built.  Only two or three members actually know anything significant about me (not ES or Skinray).

I attempt to present information related to the OPs' questions, usually technical info and the occasional tip that is/was useful to me.  But when the self-righteous few hijack or flame a thread -- or an off-topic troll pops up -- I add my $0.02 from time to time.  I comment about bogus claims also.

Understand material properties/specs and control technical variables -- your results are more likely to be consistent.   What makes you, Skinray and a handful of others think you speak for the majority (99%)?

I do not post to please the gods.  Pounding your chests and insults will not make me go away.  This is a public forum, not the property of a handful of "locals" who believe they are special.

Self-righteous ignorance?  LMAO.

Information and data that can be substantiated trump opinions and unsubstantiated claims always.  Do not mistaken knowledge for arrogance.

Pier, jetty, pass, beach … there is always a group of assholes at every break.  Everybody outside their group is a kook or a wannabe.

no big deal, just typical online forum behavior, where folks feel free to say things without filters or consequences.

Now in my 60’s, as I interact more and more with the aging, one truism is clear,

Elders who have done well with their lives, have met or exceeded their own expectations, and found within themselves the ability to grow and learn, tend to be happy and much more tolerant of the increasingly diverse world around them.

Conversely, those who never truly got their shit together, never experienced personal and professional success,  tend to be angry and intolerant with the world around them, highly defensive of their opinions, as for many it is all they to have show for their journey.

So no worries, sling away whatever makes you feel better about yourself and what you feel the need to defend.

Because in the end, it’s all just opinions, and opinions are just like assholes, everyones got one…
