Okay guys, I am getting ready to start my first board using EPS.I have been thru hundreds of posts both new and archived and I came across a post of Greg L’s stating layers of fiberglass to use based on the EPS foam density, i.e. 1 lb or 2 lb. I just purchased 2 sheets of Insulfoam R-Tech (1 sheet at 4’x8’x2" and another sheet 4’x8’x1"). No where that I see on either sheet does it say what the weight is and I looked on the Insulfoam website and it has basically the same info as what is printed on the foam. So, in making an assumption(not a good thing, I know), Is 2" = 2 lb and 1" = 1 lb? Or how can you tell what you have. I asked a guy at Lowes and he looked at me like I was an idiot, LOL.
Thats what I thought but I was looking for some connection by numbers…Yep, I have that link all printed out plus about 30 other pages of good stuff. The “Glassing Schedule” was what I was refering to.
Glassing Schedules:
Greg Loehr – Thursday, 5 February 2004, at 12:05 p.m.
2# EPS - Use one layer 6 or 2 layers of 4 bottom… Use 2 layers 6 or 3 layer 4 deck.
1.5# EPS - Use one 4 and one 6 oz for bottoms… Use two 4 and a 6 for the deck.
1# EPS - use two 6 bottom… three 6 deck.
These are minimums. For strength, go up from there.
The Insulfoam came from Lowes. About $16 for the 2" and $8 for the 1"
