however, u mention or refer to 4 ways as "over-plugging" and too much marketing!
I am attempting to share my Industry knowlege and opinions with anyone else interested, regarding certain topics on the forum.
by the way, my above post made NO MENTION to 4 ways directly, only my signature!
I don't hide my profile under any "other" name and post on the site...
if u see that as "over-marketing" then i would see you would have a huge problem with a lot of the posts....
either way, we post both in the general as well as the industry section and ARE well aware of "sways's" etiquette, and hence post accordingly.
just wanted to clear that so my posts are not misconstrued by others as a general "plug" .... (which b.t.w is sometimes unavoidable when referring to a product...)
regarding the sways library we can try post the info over to sways, but it's far easier for us to manage the information on one server on our site that we can update, modify and change when needed, as opposed to having to do so on other sites.... the guy's will then know where to go when they need the info when it comes to adjustability... (current and updated when necessary)
Some of the greatest advances in theoretical and applied science and technology have come out of corporate laboratories. As a matter of tradition, coporations which viewed themselves as part of a given community, would often publish their non-proprietary findings in that community’s literature e.g. Bell Laboratory scientists publishing on information theory. The surfing industry has really never developed the same tradition, or at least hasn’t had a similar opportunity, perhaps given the size or budgets of the companies involved, until the Net came along.
Anyway, whatever you decide to do - you make a great product - and I will continue to look forward to your insight, comments, and contributions in general. That you and other manufacturers have choosen to make yourself available to respond to questions on Swaylocks is perhaps tradition enough…
Ok, Seems like we’re off on a tangent here, so this is a gentle nudge to get this thread back on track.
Since I already have several sets of fins, I don’t really want to get into arguring the merits of adjustable fins at this point, inspite of the fact that I can see that this might be really cool…
Since we have very little feedback here on fin placement and configuration, can I assume that the tables I posted above are “in the ballpark”?
To be more specific I have almost finished shaping my first blank into a 6’11’’ round nose fish. Just a few steps left and it is ready for the fin box routing and a glass job. I intend to do a quad setup on this board so I am especially interested in any updates to this, and the thruster data, that anyone can offer.
My second blank is glued up and plan-shape cut. This will be a 7’10" blunt nose squash tail. I am considering a thuster for this board, but I also have a couple of 8" fins and 10" boxes and a set of sidebites, so I could go several directions in this one. Not sure yet.
Both boards are pretty wide and thick with soft (almost 50/50) rails, nice lines (at least I think so) and pulled-in tails. I’ll get some pictures to post up soon, so you guys have something to laugh at…
So any recommendations for the fin setup on the second board?
