Everyones going 70's again Twin v's Single- egg v's fish

i myself am about to dip my feet into the small wave board market. ive got my decision down to two designs. What are the performance characteristics of both designs. keeping in mind it will be generally a small wave board, but still need to handle a little juice. Steve Brom style fish (looking at the pics, do these designs spin out with such wide tails) or single fin egg

thats what i need to know. the pros and cons of the egg and the fish. thanks

Where are your roots, I mean what kind of surfing experience doe you have. These boards are loose, but don’t spin out if you ride these the way you should do. Basicly it’s pump for speed and put it on a rail to make the fin/tail/rail combination work. When coming from a longboard this can be trickey in the beginning, maybe then a midlenght egg might be better, a totally different ride from a fish however. Peter Rijk.

If you still have the ability to jump up and pump down the line a fish will rock your world., If you can’t pop up, out of shape, slow, basically forgot about physical fitness the last 20 years, well… Fish’s are the fastest board out there, but you need the top turn/pumping style not the best pick for the mild mannered long boarder types… Eggs are skippy fry smooth, glide, longer turns, mellowwwwwww…didn’t like them in the 70’s don’t like them now! Good lightweight beginner boards though 7’4"-7’6". Fish’s have all the character and a colorful so.cal. history!!! Just remember no vee, single concaves are the key!!!

no vee on a Brom fish?

How do fish compare to displacement hulls such as Liddle or Gross hulls. Tougher to master? Completely different ride?

Can’t speak for Brom fishes, although they do look nice! I’m from San Diego which is argueably ‘Fish Ground Zero’. Having a firsthand 32 year riding history of Lis, Skip Fry, and my own, fish inventory, I would say ‘most’ Fish’s from the 70’s (and i own one) were lacking a key design features-slight concave through the fins,NO vee, and slight 1/8" toed in fins! Key design features! along with double foiled keel fins anyway. My homemade fish was amazing and everyone noticed the speed and acceleration(sold to high bidder on the beach!). My new one’s being glassed right now. Very easy to shape by the way.

There’s light V in the fin area, not much
