~~~happy hunting... Ahui'hooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuu!!!.
what for
paternity suit? :-)
just kidding…
mikey and i were classmates at ewa beach elementary in the 60’s before i got shipped off to board up at kam school
mikey and the crouch brothers were always the “pretty boys” the girls chase like Robbie with his hair and surfer look and of our crew with kimo kauihou, tony bacalso, gooney wong, harry gaynor, and the rest of us 74’s like myron and john mitsuyasu, or david and ron arioli and all the O’reillys.
Lots of good memories with all those guys in the lineup at “first break”, Shark Country, Seawall, uncle Kui’s and the real “Haubush”
Funny how everyone eventually left
i hear Mikey maybe in town but who knows these days
Kimo moved back and still surfs out there every now and then with us old farts and Tony still hangs out at whiteplains with his family and his cousin George Ku.
how come no one mentioned Tommy Phillips and the Phillips boys?
we all played little league back then
maybe you can ask him if you see him.
Mikey likes on the mainland. Butch Perreira keeps in touch with him
Butch posts here as ButchP.
Last time I saw Mikey was a while ago, and he still looks as “pretty” as ever. If you ever get in touch, tell him Bernie and Harry said hi.
Haha!  No paternity suit here but I just really wondered what happened to him.  We would always talk story in the water waiting for waves.  I remember he was going out with Wendy Nakamura.  Not sure if he ended up marrying her or what.  Just wanted to say “Howzit” to an old friend.  I already checked Facebook.  I also Googled his name and there are other James V. out there so…???   Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Aloha… :*)
Gee. Last time I saw George Ku I think he was living at the bottom of Pupukea Road, and with the fire dept on the North Shore. I'm pretty sure he went to Kam. Kimo, Tony, Gooney (Hanagami), Ron Ariole, Harry Gaynor, Robbie Husic, Mikey V; we surfed, hung out in front of the cafeteria at Campbell playing trumps, surfed, and surfed.  ... Mike, Tommy and Rick Phillips: Mike was with the fire department, Rick HPD, and Tommy, not sure, but last time I saw him was in the water surfing at Empty Lots. Not sure where any of them are now, but seriously doubt any of them left Hawaii. All solid guys, and infamous Ewa Beachers.
eh boys.... whoa... get some real weird bastids on top this swaylocks yeah?! ok i started this thread called:
big guy looking to go shorter, wider on my new "daily-driver". would appreciate any advice, comments, thoughts, ideas. aloha!.
and at first was all good. but plenty guys suggesting stuff i wasnt interested in. next thing you know get guys saying oh, why was i offended, this and that. maybe i should go on one diet etc. is this normal? because you folks all treated me with so much kindness and aloha! that other thread im this close to saying something i will surely regret.
Aloha!
     Howzit makakilo, I am some what confused because the thread you are referring to is another one and I don't see what it has to do with this thread and did somebody say something offensive to you? We are usually pretty cordial here unless somebody starts getting out of hand and I have never read anything by you that was offensive. I have missed reading the general discussion for a couple of days so I need to check out your other thread about the board size and see what I missed. If people are just posting things that are connected to your thread but not what you want to hear then that is just members coming up with different ideas that are out of the box. Aloha,Kokua
its pau already.everyone kissed and made up, said our sorrys etc. feel dumb for even posting on this thread, shouldnt've. tried to delete previous post but cant? thank you kokua and sorry, aloha
Brudda Makakilo,
This place is a mess these days. There are a lot of really cool people who have a tremendous amount of experience in the surfboard making industry, and then there are some great backyarders/underground types who can turn you on to some great information. But there are a lot of pricks and punks these days. I think they migrated over from the magazine billboards.
Just gotta sort it all out and make a note of the Aholes. I find it interesting that guys with one year of surfing experience are here making their first boards and asking all kind of stupid questions. I’d think that you should know enough about surfing and how you surf before you start making boards, but that’s just me.
Take some time and go through a lot of what’s here and you’ll see some wild shit.
eh, mahalo sharkcountry! thats excellent advice my bradda! ill take it to heart. sorry again for posting on this thread about another, unrelated one.  wont happen again. i no like make waves. and 99% of the folks here on swaylocks have been helpful, cordial. and went out of their way to post pictures, board cad and aku files, theories, dimensions. even health and dietary advice! LOL!
i love hawai'i and its people! whether you're black, haole, pake, japanese, filipino, hawaiian, portagee or some ratio of several or maybe none of the above?. doesnt matter!  us people, we grew up on a small island, where everybody knows somebody who is related to someone who knows you, knows your family. and if you out there doing wrong, itll come back on you quick! and its not like we can just pickup and drive a few states over and start fresh.
Hey Makakilo, last year I was out at SC on a good day and after a while Issac Kaneshiro and some of his friends came out. That guy can still shred, I was blown away at what he was doing. I don't think any top pro could have surfed the place any better than he did that day. Good thing I was ready to go in cause those guys were tearing it up and I was only going to get scraps.
I've seen Gantz out there a couple of times. My brother told me who he was. He was really mellow and a nice guy, the surf wasn't as good so he didn't look as impressive as Issac did.
Hi EwaBeachRd, Mike Phillips lives in the family house on Papipi Street. He is good friends with my wife’s cousin, Jimmy Oxley. The Phillips kids and the Oxley kids were all about the same age. Jimmy was the baby. I saw Mike at Uncle Jim Oxley’s funeral then again at Michael Oxley’s funeral.
I hear that Tommy is still struggling with his demons. I saw Tommy surfing Sandtracks about a year or 2 ago.
Many years ago, I was leaving my Grand Uncle’s beach house in front of Shark Country while Rick Phillips was patrolling the beach road. He stopped me cause I was climbing around the fence. After asking a ton of questions he let me go. It turned out that while we lived abroad, my Dad’s uncle had the Phillips family watch the house. Jimmy told me they used to party up there all the time. So when I answered his questions, he must have figured out I was ligit, and let me go.
Hey SC,
Jim Oxley died?? I hadn't heard about this. We hung out a lot back in the days. I'm super sorry to hear that. I have a great Jimmy story if you want to hear it sometime.
Tommy had a wild streak, for sure. Guess it stayed with him.
I saw Rick and his wife (May?) when I lived in town. They stopped up to visit me when I lived on Tantalus Dr. I think he was a lutenent with HPD then. Smart guy. He was best friends with George Kealakakula, and George and I hung out lot back in those days when they had the band Flight; George, Kane Ki'imi, Joe Siliato, and for a while, Tommy Fernandez. They played at Top Of The Shop back when C and K, Country Comfort and Olamana ruled the Honolulu music scene. Good fun days!
