Board’s shaped. Looks pretty good. Now I have scribed a line around the rails about 3 inches in ( top and bottom) with a scribing tool & pencil. Now my plan is a fade flame job going from nose to tail only within the rail area. I was going to let out a long piece of masking tape, cut out continuous flame design w/ exacto blade, then stick the long masking tape ( now stencil) on rail and spray. Then pull it ( the stencil) up.I don’t have a real airbrush, just one of those glass jars w/ the aerosol canister built into the cap. Short of being an acomplished airbrush artist is there a better way to go about this?
try peel and stick contact paper for your stencil.
In Surfboard, the dude shooting the paint was using a door jamb gun in every picture. You can buy one at Home Depot or Lowe’s for about $30. He wasn’t even using the can, just holding a plastic cup full of paint under the gun with the siphon tube down in the paint. After seeing this, I’d stay away from an airbrush with a nozzle less than 0.5mm, and probably even larger is better. Anything smaller would likely be too slow, too fine. If you must have an airbrush or want a nicer jamb type gun, try www.dixieart.com. I have yet to find a better selection or better prices. Free shipping on any order over $30 or $40, I forget which. If you call the 800 number for advice, they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Sorry, I just happened to see the foamez.com has a jamb gun for $17. Sorry for the double post. I backed up after looking at the foamez site and it double posted. Ooops.
I use the jamb gun …I have three of them. works good enough for me.
