Experimenting with multi-color hot coats

I dropped by my friend Charlie’s house and noticed a yellow short board half-glassed in his rafters. He said I could have it because it was sitting there for years unfinished and it was only laminated with no leash plug or fin boxes. I told him that the size (5’9” x 19” x 2 5/8”) would be perfect for my 11 year old granddaughter. When I brought it home I noticed that the laminated only glass job was stained so I tried my best to clean it up with acetone. It cleaned up a bit but the stains were still noticeable. I was deciding to either hot coat sand it and air brush it or try a multi-color hot coats coloring to mask the stains. I decided on the multi-color hot coats because I only heard about it but never tried it.
I first laid down a coat of orange color laminating resin thinned with Styrene and after that dried I topped it with a golden yellow hot coat with surfacing agent. After that dried and cured, I sanded like normal and finished up with a polished gloss coat. It came out unique and the granddaughter loves it. Now I need to pick up a set of Future fins.

I Like it. cool idea!
