just thought i’d throw this one out there, which bottom shape is said to be the fastest?
In my opinion, all else being equal, a flat, low-rockered bottom will be the fastest.
flat = fastest
Not mine apparently, tweaked my back again tonight. Flat for the surfboard though.
Could you think of worse timing?
Fastest bottom shape? That would be any bottom shaped by ME! he,he,he!
get a old board or whatever board and rub a bar of ivory soap on it...........like you're waxing the bottom.
very fast............but a bit soapy thru the turns.

Flat… little turbulent drag induced by bottom contours, so it’s gotta be the fastest.
Concave… captures the energy of the water flowing up the face of the wave, allowing little to flow off the rail, so it’s gotta be the fastest.
Hull/Belly… planes on a smaller area of bottom once it’s up to speed which means less friction drag, so it’s gotta be the fastest.
Nice one nj surfer!!. Check the archive for Bert burgers thread on fastest bottom. In my amateur opinion, a flat bottom board does not interrupt water flow, so i THINK its fastest, as any time water has to change ( hit a channel, or wrap around a hull ) it must use energy to do so. Im far from an expert, in fact im far from even an informed amateur!!.
fast shape
that bottom is not flat.
or anything else around it.
What were we talking about again??
What bottom is fastest?
It's like asking which car is the fastest. You'd have to define fast and under what conditions.
Is lickitty split the same as fast?
last time I looked, the fastest bottom was on a Honda WaveRunner or something similar.
Would that be concave or convex? Definitely not a belly. Can’t tell it it’s flat either.

good one... has me laughing
better still, rub it on your buddies wax when he’s not looking and be prepared to howl when he takes off on his first wave…LOL
My brother Oneula once mixed watered down soap bars with Alka Seltzer and painted the mix on the bottom of his board. He did this after reading an article by Tom Morey in the early 70’s.
We didn’t get good data because Shark Country breaks about a half mile out, and the mix fizzed out and dissolved while paddling out. Might be something you do with a jet ski though. Just keep the board dry until you jump off onto a wave. I forgot what it’s called but guys have done that.
you mean like the channel marker to ala mo?
on huge days of course.
