father to son!

Manoa, (my six year old son) has been, up till recently, terrified of the ocean. As a surfer, that concerned me a bit. Then I got him involved in building his own plywood bellyboards. now we can’t get him out of the water!

That's the right kind of Fortunate Son. You have your boy on the right track. He'll be flyin' along on one of your alaias in no time.

Nice to see you back BJ.

so cool =)

What it's all about.

Passing it on.

 Lovely movie Idler.

Very Cool You and your family.

For my son’s 10 th birthday I took him with me to Oahu, built him a new 5’3" thruster, when I ran up to the car for my rash guard, he strapped on his leash and jumped into the inside kiddie pool with the rest oif the keiki’s. The white water reforms were about knee high, but he got swatted and knocked off his board, it never came to him that he was in 2-1/2’ of water and could have just put him feet down and touched bottom.

By the time I got back from the car, about one minute or less, he was on the towel crying and said he didn’t want to do this anymore, it got me very pissed, I told him I’d never bring him to Hawaii again and it was a waste of my money.

That was the voice of my father channeling through me, you know how the parent tapes can be, I decided to change the way I would speak to him after that, after all, all I was ever going to be was a ditch digger.

Surfing will set them free.

A pic of my daughter Harley Kai at 5 surfing her first wave. It will always be a special moment in our relationship.

She is 19 now in England going to the university of Hull. She is still making me proud.
