FCS Bonza' Fins

G’day Guys,

Had a look a while back on www.surfline.com of Rob Machardos Quiver. He has one board called a Bonza/flyer by al merric (duh!) check it out at

http://www.surfline.com/sdg/quiver/sbay_quiverotm03_index.cfm

I was going to try making a 3 fin Bonza to fit my fcs plugs…Posible…if not i will have a go anyway.

Josh.

What you’re looking at in Rob’s Bonzer/Flyer photo are Red X fins. There’s no reason not to try, if that’s what you want.

G’day, Because im not going to use this board as a complete bonza’ im going to bring out a complete quiver of different fins to fit my standard 6ft2 thrusta’.

Thanks for the quick reply,

Josh.

I don’t have the positions for the 3-fin. But, the 5-fin side fin back runners are in the correct position for a thruster side fin. The center fin is substantially further forward than a thruster though. And the cant of the side runners is 18-20 degrees.

Thanks! im also going to make fins like the Loxbox fish fins to try…should be interesting…Josh.

That I would not recommend. That’s a lot of fin to rely on FCS plugs to support.

I have a question about the Machado bonzer. I thought bonzers were all about the channel concave and not just the fin numbers. Just adding two more fins doesn’t make it a bonzer does it?

I had the same thought… bonzers are about the bottom contours… mild to deep double concaves, vee and the five fins correctly placed… the board would have to be shaped as a bonzer to turly be bonzer. no?

Well Malcolm Campbell is a shaper at Channel Islands and I’m sure his imput if it there somewhere.
