I was asked to do a FCS install on a deck for a go pro camera mount. I was wondering if its necessary to do the full H pattern install through to the bottom or is there less load applied than for a fin install.
Thanks for looking

i did mine on my longboard and did not do a h pattern. there really is no stress on the mount… unless you surf beach breaks with no leash on closeout days as i do. than you may have a problem.
I did some too. Always thru the stringer, so. no need of H.
I did mine to the right of the stringer to get a cool angle… Drilled the holesaw, dropped the plug in with some cab and sanded it flush. The board has flipped over and dragged the camera on the sand a few times (recorded some funny footage to prove it) but have had no breaks yet. Hope this helps!
I installed one on my longboard and it is fine. Now, one thing I will say is I installed it with the plug straight with the stringer. I would recomend putting two plugs: one at 45 degrees to the right and one at 45 degrees to the left. Then put the camera on the direction you are most likely to go on a session. My 2 cents.
Nice. Esp around the 1:00 mark onwards. Looks like it mounted on a pole on the tail. If you fell on it you could get a free colonoscopy.
