FCS Plug Repair - do I need to remove it?

Greetings everyone. I have a Plug repair question I did not see the answer for during my search. I tapped my fin on the right side just enough to knock the two FCS plugs loose. The plugs themselves are not broken. The glass at the edge where the plugs meet have small chips and cracks. My question is this, does the whole plug need to be cut out and removed - then reset, or would simply trimming back the cracked glass and repairing it with the plug in place work? Also, being that I have not done a plue repair as of yet, would it be a smarter choice to have it done professionally, I’m pretty good with standard ding repairs but thats where my experience level sits…

Grumpy, It's best to reset it, because most likely the plugs are grushed into the foam. Reset with glass and not mill fibers. Hope this works for you my friend. Mahalo,Larry

Grumpy, Here's some pics to help you remove a FCS plug without breaking it. Drill around the plug with a Hole saw. Then us something along the idea of a Pry Bar rock the plug back and forth until the plug breaks free from the bottom fill.

Thanks Larry, sounds do-able. I am not familiar with the term mill fibers? I have sandable resin two part right now, some fiberglass cloth and some roving…
