FCS plugs for sale

Somebody posted a message about FCS plugs costing $5.00 a plug at a surf shop they buy from and blamed it on FCS co. FCS Has raised the price of plugs from $2.00 to $2.50 a plug in the last few months. But if the surf shop is charging $5.00 a plug, then it’s the shop who’s doing the ripping off. This shop is making more $ on the plugs then FCS and all they’re doing is being a middle man. I pay about $24.00 a set and that includes fins, plugs, milled fibers, key, etc.but a surf shop sells just the fins for about $45 to $50 and that’s just stock fins, specialty fins can run as high as $90 a set at a shop. What other products are they ripping you off on,probably everything they sell. Is capitalism just another word for rip-off,makes you wonder.

so where do you find fins that cheap?

FCS is distributed by various groups in the U.S. There are several places to either walk-in or mailorder from on either the East or West Coast. You can get the “wholesale” or builder’s price if you can provide some proof that you are in the trade. This might be a city or county business license or some REASONABLE FACIMILE which these distributors are obligated to keep on file. They have a distribution agreement with FCS requiring them to sell only to those in the “trade”. This protects FCS retail dealers so there is not any discrepancy should a retail customer try to go around the surf shop retailer and buy direct from the wholesale distributor. Pretty simple to get the wholesale price if you are building boards, just provide them with a document that says you are in the trade. By the way, didn’t someone - here at Sway’s - say that FCS is completely revamping their system this coming year ?!

By the way, didn’t someone - here at Sway’s - say that FCS is completely > revamping their system this coming year ?! They were to have a new system by the end of 2001 but now they’re saying the end of 2002. They also say they have some strange looking but very functional new fin designs. These are the result of a big financial grant(2 million dollars) from the austrailian government.

By the way, didn’t someone - here at Sway’s - say that FCS is completely > revamping their system this coming year ?! >>>>>>> Spoke with Tyler Calloway yesterday. He stopped by the factory yesterday (to put out fires) for some public relations. I mentioned to him that he might want to check out some of the posts here regarding opinions regarding the lack of stoke with the FCS fin system. I thought it would be enlightening for him to see whats up. I asked him why they don’t offer direct sales (ie; the backyard enthusiast)from their offices here in San Diego. His local sales rep explained that they used to have direct sales but it was too much hassle for them to do so they discontinued (approx. 2 years ago) the practice. I told them they may want to reconsider their position on this. Only time will tell if they decide to become more user friendly. Also, regarding the new fin system Tyler informed me there is one in the works, but as of now it is not ready for release yet. sk
