Anyone own one of these, was wondering how far up from the tail are the fins placed, . compared to the swallow width…the design seems to have heaps of drive… ![]()
Fins look to be close to typical Retro Fish placement, just above the butt crack.
i recently made a copy of a febs fish when i copied in the image in accushaper it seemed like the fins were almost completely straight but i opted to turn them in an 1/8th of an inch as is standard. otherwise i believe that drive your seeing is probably coming from:
- A very foilded tail
- relatively pulled down rails
- The febs fish keels wich go fairly far back from the box, similiar to the Jim banks hookers.
one thing i did with my version which i woldnt not recommend is i put 90% of the nose all that rocker into a staged rocker from about about 1 foot from the nose, that has significantly effected the take of and speed to get up and going. defintely wont be doing that again.
Depends on the length of the board. But looks like 6.5” - 7” up. 1 1/2” off rail and 1/8” toe. Which would leave the trailing edge of his Britt fish fin at the 5” zone which is pretty far back. If I were you I’d figure out what fin or what type of fin you want to run and place your box so that the trailing edge is in that 6”- 6.5” range.
Hi Vido,
i’m also trying to recreate Feb’s fish in BoardCAD. Would you be open to sharing your version? I’m not entirely confident about the rocker on mine.
Happy to share my version as well.
