Female shapers???

OHHHHHHHHH female shapers. I picture this hot little female shaper waking in the middle of the night. Sweat beads falling from her head as she jumps out of bed and races down the stairs to her shaping room . The shaping room her Dad fixed for her in the basement when she first started ripping the glass off of his old long boards.

As the light killed the darkness of the basement there it was on two four foot stands reflecting magnificently as if all the light in world for one moment was shining on her glory. As if the light too was called out of its slumber with the same vision that was given her . Her new blank that would be her 5’9 fish seemed to swell as her flesh slowly caressed its stringer . Tracing the tip section with her finger as she recalled the vision that had jolted her out of bed. Big ! Big and wide she said aloud as her panties creped up her tight firm butt as she stretched out over the board.

Oh aww ahhhh sorry I got to go now.

Not
Ooops. I meant to say Yater has a SON who is a VERY good shaper. Never heard of a daughter, at least not one who's in the business. If there were, She'd probably be good to!

Hey Waldo…big thumbs down to you!!!

hey Leslie - I sold a used board to your friends from your neck of the woods a couple of days ago.

Sweet! I will probably see it in my shop for future repairs! What kind of board is it?

Oh…and in reply to the Female shapers question…there is a female shaper in SoCal. I forget her name but I remember corresponding via email with her several years ago. If I think of her name…I will post it. Where has my memory gone? Gosh darn it…this getting old really stinks! Or is it loss of brain cells from CHEMICALS? No matter.

It’s a WR, but I suspect you’ll see it sooner than laterto fix a small delam on the gas peddle. Maybe a small plate on the right RedX plug. Sweet board / sweet price. I almost sent up the old board for restoration but I need to save some more.

I hear through the grape vine that you got a write up in the Journal. Kudos!!

Sorry.

Yes, my name was mentioned for laminating all of the Meyerhoffer boards. The article is all about him, his designs, and his boards. I’m pretty stoked though. I would have been more stoked if they had not used the words “Master Laminator”. How embarrasing is that? I’m way more proud to have done the work on two of his boards that are showing at the Cooper Hewitt Museum, a section of the Smithsonian for designers. That just makes me giddy!

Wow! Great website. Great looking boards! I love the graphics. It’s nice to see other women in the industry Many Kudo’s!

Shannon McIntyre used to shape boards but i don’t think she does much anymore. She and her husband have a show on Fueltv called “On Safari” where they travel to unusual places to surf.

here website is

Thanks for the link! Shannon is actually the woman I was trying to think of earlier in this thread.

Waldo!! Holy cow man you got some hormones raging! Funny how a simple question can conjour such an explict eruption in your trousers.

Good thing I didn’t ask about…(Swaylocks fill in the blank…or better yet don’t)

Asked about what?? Good thing you didn’t ask about what???

You combined my two favorite things Woman and Surfboards. Better yet A woman shaping a surfboard. I couldnt help it.

Hey Guys,

gotta share an email I just got from my friend Amber. I showed her a video and talked to her about the process of making surfboards just a couple of days ago and now she’s gone hardcore!

Hey there,

So I got all the materials for the shaping bay (well almost all). The only thing I’m missing is the foam, any suggestions as to where to get that?

They said they didn’t have it at Home Depot.

Let me know if you think of anything. I’m going to keep looking around online to see if I can find it somewhere.

I’m totally stoked and am gonna put it together tomorrow. YAY!

So as soon as we get her some foam, you can add her to the list of female shapers. I am so stoked for her. Too bad her neighbors won’t be haha.

Cheers,

Rio

Cupcake H. Shorebreak comes to mind.

Cuppy shaped the infamous Penetrator Electric Stick Model or wait, maybe it was the Tube Intruder? anyhow, Cupcake was the first female surfer to tackle the demanding surf of North PB, or Turmo as the old timers call it. Late 1973 Cupcake paddled out on a solid 2-4 ft day, Rumors have it that there were even some overhead sets… Everybody watched and held there breath as Cupcake took on on a larger set wave, she stroked, she got up, she snaked 3 guys, and plowed right into a Boogie Board #132.” that day in 73’ a surfing legend was made.

I bet you all have a Cupcake story too.

Hey there…Margaret from Bing & Jacobs Surfboards here…sorry to barge in on this thread but just wanted to set the record straight, Ashley does in fact shape her own signature model. Picture attached. Though Ash does live in Santa Cruz now, whenever I get a few orders for her, she makes the trip down to Hermosa to shape the boards. She does do a hand-shape custom now and again but nowadays her model is digitized and milled on the machine. There were only 2 occasions where Ashley was out of the country and Matt shaped the boards for the order.

Before Ashley came to ride and shape for Bing Surfboards, she actually shaped, laminated, sanded, glossed, and set fins for all of her own personal boards and took custom orders in the Malibu-Santa Barbara area. So she came to us already with a background in surfboard manufacturing. Check out the back cover of the movie Sprout…those were all boards she shaped + glassed herself.

We’ve been good friends for awhile now and when it comes to surfing/shaping/musical stylings, Ashley Lloyd is hands-down the most talented female out there…you go girl!!!

Hey there…me again. Definitely no platter there…Matt Calvani comes from a serious and extensive background in custom hand-shaping. He’s probably shaped more boards by hand than Phil Becker did at Matt’s age. And that’s A WHOLE LOT…I think Phil has the record for boards shaped in his career. In fact, nowadays Matt focuses moreso on the custom hand-shapes and designs and leaves the production bump-shaping to guys that he’s trained himself. If you’re ever in the South Bay, you’re more than welcome to come visit us and tour the factory.

Hi Margaret _ To me there is nothing necessarily wrong or derogatory with being a production shaper. I’m glad you put your friend in the same company w/ Phil Becker. From what I have heard, Phil is one of the hardest working guys in the industry. Calvani must love to work under those labels. Good for you guys!

aha…2 points for meeeee!
