fiji, cloudbreak and access

not sure if thispost has been done before…heard that under bainimarama that they have taken away exclusive rights to these breaks . a great thing for tourism in fiji

 democratic governments dont like the fella . but word on the street is the average fijian is better off and happier under this regime.

i for one am certainly happy i can go surf cloudbreak one day

"On July 1 last year the Bainimarama government
passed the Regulations of Surfing Areas Decree, which meant no group
could claim exclusivity to any wave in the island chain. All bets were
off. It now meant you no longer needed an executive salary to surf
Cloudbreak, merely a boat that could get you out there from the
mainland. The early reports were that the place got crowded, quick, but
the crowd has settled with time and thins predictably when the swell
gets serious. As part of the decree, Cloudbreak’s little brother,
Restaurants – the left that wraps around the island of Tavarua itself
which is often regarded as the better wave – was also opened to all
comers.
