fin alignment

What can be done to help a fin box that is nit really perpendicular to the bottom of thre board? I bought a board,6’8", and like the way it rides so far, but have not yet had a chance to get it out in decent waves. I noticed after staring at it and a thorough measuring that the fin, single, is straight front to back, but slightly tilted to one side. Does tis really make that big of a difference, and can anything, short of resetting the box be done to correct this?

to compensate for a slight tilt, i think you can shave/sand the very base of the fin on the side to which the fin tilts, and add a bead of resin on the opposite side equal in thickness to the material you’ve removed. i’m talking about only the very lowest edge of the base, way in the box slot. if the degree of tilt is greater than what i’m thinking, or if you have more than one fin that you use with the board, then re-installing the box may be best. good luck

Do you think a being off a 1/16 - 1/8 of an inch would merit a reset or talking to the shaper?
