Fin Angles

Why are the two outside fins on a shortboard angled outward, and from looking at previous posts, is it true people angle them inward too? what is the bennifets of each and what are the techniques for measuring and setting up the fins in the right place using the FCS fin system?

Thanks very much

Check the archives for detailed answers. BUT the more its tilted out loosens up the board somewhat with less drive, more straight up and down = more drive but a little stiffer. Most comprimise at 4-7 degrees. More tow = looser less drive/ less tow = stiffer more drive
