Fin for a Rick/Barry K model

I have a Barry K model, Rick surfboard, it has two tbans, highden foam side stringers and one center stringer which is white wood all stringers have been glued with black glue. The board is not in that great of shape and the fin box is filled with resin, with a glassed on plywood fin. The board is very gunny, and very thick in the tail. Does anyone out there know what the fin looked like when the board was new. Or better yet does anyone know anything about the model. Any help at all would be great.

Hey Al, It’s possible that B.K. will help you out. He’ll be back in Oahu in about a week. His email address is – Let me know if you have any luck. Mahalo, Rich

I also have a BK model. It is a 9ft10in board offset red foam stringers, 5 thin redwood stringers, black dorsal shaped fin, concave in top of board at the tail for ease of turning. this board is a Rick team board with large letters on the bottom of the board for competition. It is explained in a 67 surfer magazine article called (Men and thier Models) it shows BK doing a turn on this board and doing a very nice style for such a big board. It has a nice kick also. I wish BK would read this article because the number on the deck is 22, I feel this board is a great example of this man’s shaping talent and craftmanship. I feel very lucky to own this board, it is in very good condition the only drawback there is a leashplug in the tail.
