fin guesstion...

is there any way to take the guess work out of fin placement?..example lets say ive got a squash tail shape im changing to a swallow…and i like the way the board performs ,do i leave the fins in the same place using a invisible line from points of the tail…or measure from the actual center of the tail.? is there any kind of exact science to fin placement…i realize there are all sorts of variables but is the any way to tell on a different shape where the fins should be…?

Howzit have, Place the fins just like it was still a squash tail other wise the fins will be to far forward.Aloha,Kokua

Seems to me if you liked the way your board worked, then if you lessened it’s tail surface area, you’d move the fin FORWARDS.

Just like if you increased it’s surface (how), you’d move your fins back to bring back the holding power.

Seems to me…
