When installing FCS fins, what quantity of milled fibers should I be adding to my resin mix, say for an ounce or two of resin? I’ve installed three sets of FCS plugs on the boards I’ve made, but always get annoying air bubbles trapped in my resin mixture. Is this from adding to much of the fibers? I try to minimize stirring, but I make sure everything is mixed. Just looking for some tips here.
Howzit strndedsurfr, The way to prevent those air bubbles is to simply make your mixture the day before you are goihg to use it. Use a container that has a lid on it to prevent stryrene evaporation. I've been doing this for a while now and when you uncap the mix the next day the bubbles will be gone. I think the milled fibers capture air molecules and that creates the bubbles. Also you may be using to much milled fibers. After a couple of thousand installs I just eyeball the amount I add to the mix, but I think it's between 25 and 30 % .Hope that helps. Aloha, Kokua
Thanks man, I appreciate it
