Fin Placement????

I shaped a 7’11" R and put a thruster set on the board. Center fin 4 inch from tail, sides are 12 from tail (all measurements from back of fin box) was this correct? Sides 1 1/4 from rail towed in 2 in off nose. Was this right? Its too late now, resin has set, just wondering if I was way off, using Future Fins. Also, have a 10’1" longboard, single 9inch center fin, where is the correct placement for the box? Thanks, These are my first boards to shape, figured I would start with the short board, and save the longboard as a master piece…Johnny

Johnny, Be sure to also check the archives. I just did a search from in the archives for posts containing the words “fin” and “placement” and it turned up 77 posts. (Go to the archive and use the search form there.) This might save you a bit of time and also help you target your questions. your placement of the thruster set on the 7_11R sounds about right to me. the longboard i’m not so sure of, i think 6 3/8" from the tail is the standard neighborhood for a 10" fin box…do the archive search that swaylock suggests, this is material that’s probably been covered more than 1nce good luck

I agree with Ramone, but I think I’ve heard of people also setting the fin on a noserider a little farther back than normal somtimes. Not sure though. Good luck!
