Would a 4 1/4" back fin and two 3 1/4" side fins work without complete spin out in small surf on a 6’2 thruster?
…yes no problem…may be you need some tail area…
…I surf with a 6 with 2 stabilizers with a hole (a la turbo) and a bit larger and with less rake back fin…taila kick…etc
It would most definetly work, just depends if you like the feel, but I don’t think spinning out is going to be a huge problem.
Spinning out should not be a problem in small surf, but maybe stiffness, non positive turn might be.
I’d put 5" sides and 3" trailer for small waves, so you get positive SNAP and turning power, coupled with directional looseness.
Bigger tail fins stiffen the ride, especially if you move forwards to get thru flatspots, as the turning area gets moved BACK with big trailers.
Thanks guys that’s great info!
hi again.
what about having a 4 1/2" base x 6 3/4" deep back fin with two 3 1/2" base x 4" deep side fins i a thruster possition?
would that still feel not possitive and stiff turns? would it feel like a widow maker or is there a greater need to repositon the fins?
cheers!
feels fine , to me …
once again , it depends if YOU like the feel Josh !
Only one solution …
…
…
well i tried once with a back fin made out of perspex and that didn’t let me feel anything at all!
will try again with wood or fibreglass…
yep , fibreglass …why not ?
And let us know how it went for you .
cheers Josh !
ben
wood is cheaper and easier too so i might do that “some day”.
