We have used them for around 8 years now. as with anything the better the install the stronger the outcome. we are very happy with them and the failure rate is extremly low. the end damage to the customer’s board and wallet are the lowest if the worst does happen, eg rocks, reek or kooks. im supprised Griffin hasnt got them yet as the would be much simpler for him to make fins for and a lot stronger than others he uses. and we evenhave seen guys who have forgotten to screw up the fins and surfed for 2 weeks or more without loosing a fin because of the strong tight fit in the boxes.
Cheers for the compliments on my web design! i like to stay hands on with all aspects i can. the glass fins we make fit fcs as well just to allow extra sales to people who have fcs already. we buy some from fin solutions, we make some here but we also get some from China. we use the router jig from fin solutions and Steve also makes one for fcs plugs that speeds things up and helps keep it more accurate. cheers Dave
I started using Fin sollutions a little while ago, I find the company a pleasure to deal with. The install is the same as finteck. which I found easy.
Speedfins have ben taken over by Gally he used to work for them a few years ago. They are still available do a search on google for them and call gally’s mobile . I don’t have the number handy.
Hey mate, i’ll add my .02c. I’ve used them on my 2+1, very easy install, and had no probs whatsoever. FCS fins fit straight in, and dave is right, very neat fit even before you screw them in. I have a holesaw that fits perfectly, ok, its a little smaller, but i prefer to file out the last 2% of the hole, rather than have too big a hole. It’s 27mm if memory serves me correct ( though it might not ). Its a proper starret holesaw, very thick steel not a flimsy cheapo. If you want it, let me know you’re welcome to borrow it.
Thanks for the offer, but I prefer to do all my gouging with a router.
I have a ryoby plunge router that I have had for 7 years.
Leaves a nice clean hole for whatever job your doing if you have the right jig.
I have made a lot of jigs for it out of 6 mm rubber from clark rubber.
I even use it for my leash plug.
I drilled a 35 mm hole, spay some glue on the back side of the rubber, stick it into place, route hole, pull rubber jig off and I have a perfect hole for a surfblanks 32 mm leash plug.
