I’m still on the lookout for historical pictures and original dated data/info. I haven’t found any original sales reciepts but I know some are out there somewhere.
Gene, you are a mench!! As a gremmy (I know, today they say grom), I lusted after a Skil. My dad had his spokeshaves, I wanted a Skil! My grandpas always told me; “A man was only as good as his tools!” and as life took me down a complicated road, I still followed their advice. As a proud owner of a 676, a Type 1, Type 3, & 2 Type 4 7.5’s which I use as frequently as possible, I want to say; “Thank You” for all your hard work in putting the Skil display & research together. Although I haven’t shaped as many boards with my Skils as some, I still take pride in the fact that every hand shape I do, and every shaping lesson I give, that the Skil is the “best tool” for the job.
Very true. With all the adaptations done to Hitachi, Bosch, Makita and Wen. The introduction of Accu etc. The Skil 100 is still the “go to” tool to ge the job done right. Not using a Skil is a case of preference, availability and $$. I guess there are those who have yet to be enlightened. You too can see the light. I have two for sale. PM me.
