Finishing Ecocomp Bioresin Boards

Hello all,

I hope you can help...

I have just finished a CoreCork Compsand board using muslin (internal) and glass (external). The build is fine (albeit a bit heavier than originally planned), but I find it difficult to get a decent finish with the resin I use. I have built half a dozen boards with it, but a nice finish still eludes me.

I use the Sustainable Composites Swell Ecocomp bio resin - http://www.suscomp.com/

Has anyone used this stuff, if so do you have any advice on finishing the boards?

Advice gratefully received.

As I haven’t had much of a response, I thought I would add a couple of images that show my problems…

Here is a Cork/Linen/Muslin Composite. The problem I have is that the gloss coat is shiny, but with loads of imperfections on it. I have been told the remedy is to heat the Bioresin before brushing and using a hot air gun to help the resin flow afterwards.

This second image is a Cork/Muslin/glass composite which I have tried get it looking nice, but it has ended up rather matt.

So currently my choice in finish is either matt and pretty good or Gloss and a bag of poo.

Again if anyone else is using Ecocomp bioresin I would greatly appreciate some advice.

Thanks,

JB
