At work i was given a gallon of finishing (gloss) resin. I was trying to figure out if there is anyway I could get the SA out of it. I wasthinkin that if i heat it up the wax may rise on the barrell of maybe if I cool it way down the wax will coagulate and separate from the resin. Anyone ever done this, or have an idea about how to?
You might be able to get rid of the wax, but the styrene is still mixed in, and the resin is too thin to do a normal lam.
You CAN lam with gloss resin, but you gotta brush the hotcoat on while the lam is just kicking, and do it in like 3 minutes. Not recommended, as you’re gonna need finish resin for finishing pretty soon anyways.
Of course, it will prolly turn out sucky!
Howzit Soulslider, I remember Ambrose used to use finish resin to do his hotcoats.Aloha,Kokua
gloss resin is more expensive than lam resin, why would you want to do this, even if you could? Maybe find someone to trade with you instead…
