Hey Shifty,
I only found this thread AFTER your PM, so I now have the detail that its the whole bottom!
Golly! The WHOLE bottom…I’ll be fascinated to see this weirdness.
BTW, I think FW has a solid replacement policy on new boards with weirdness, though I don’t speak for them.
Maybe your friend should check that out via their website before I encourage you to go re-lamming it and thus most likely voiding the possibility of that replacement.
Josh
so was it the glass or the whole skin??

i should have taken some photos.
it started off as 1/3 of the board de-lamed. then i just pulled it and it all came off.
im pretty sure the guy got a new board out of it with a warranty.
somehow, the old one just ended up in my hands…
i sanded it and re laminated it tonight.
ill let you know how it goes…

hey paul,
it was the glass.
im a little confused as to how there built. whats that under the glass?
once the blanks is constructed they just handlam them
so it would resin research i guess and some standard industry fiberglass
the big question is what is the skin made of
the original ones were corecell i believe
if this is new posibly polyurethane skin
what does it look like up close
the pvcs are fairly course and porous compared to PU foam
however the early corecell or dcell firewires were sealed and painted
this could be the problem
no pvc skin boards ive built could ever possibly do that
but a balsa skin its possible
the pvc sucks quite a bit of resin and its peel strength is amazing

under the glass it looked like the blank was sealed then painted with something.
looks like it had no chance of bonding to it…
i sanded it back with 80# paper and re laming it with epoxy then filler coat.
guess ill see how it goes…
Bad paint. Return the board and get a new one.
i did a couple with spackle and waterbased acrylic and no problem
but then i just figured out “they are what they are” why try and hide it
